You are correct that the superintendents evaluation is made public, after a closed door meeting. So having accepted that for years, he can not now cower behind the skirt of the law because it does not suit his needs now. There seems to be a question though, is the superintendent entitled to the same protection as the principals, or even the teachers he disposes of so easily. I do not believe that he is. He is the head of the department, answerable to the committee, as his principals are to him. In addition there are laws that could be read that the superintedent can be removed, one is Ch 71 SEC 63, Massachusetts general laws, also chapter 69 deals with underperforming districts and the removal of principals and teachers. No reason not to include the main reason Lawrence is in this status, which is Laboy. In any event there must be some mechanism to remove a person such as this by means other than force. The public needs to understand that the committee is the key to removing and then fixing the problem (Laboy). There duty is to elect compitent members, or re-elect puppet rubberstamps such as Laroque, and live with that discision in shame.
