Do not get fooled by Naomi Stromberg! She claims to be the School Committee attorney but she lied. She said that Laboy’s performance cannot be discussed in public and you need to meet in executive session. That’s not true. You have discussed his performance many times when dealing with his evaluation. You cannot discuss his mental or health status in public but his wrongdoings are already of public knowledge.
She works for Laboy, not the School Committee. Why then she was the one appealing my request under the Freedom of Information Act when I asked for a videotape of Gina Castillo being beaten at Lawrence High School. She has nothing to do with representing Laboy in that appeal yet she gets paid every time she does something for him.
Get advice from other sources, find out the truth and bring it up at the next meeting. I feel sorry for the three who want to do what’s right but I would love to see Greg Morris and Peter Larocque to see the light and do what’s right for this community and agree to discuss it. I know that Priscilla Baez is a poor example of a human being and being Mark Rivera’s sister, she’s deep into Laboy’s pocket and would never change.

You are correct that the superintendents evaluation is made public, after a closed door meeting. So having accepted that for years, he can not now cower behind the skirt of the law because it does not suit his needs now. There seems to be a question though, is the superintendent entitled to the same protection as the principals, or even the teachers he disposes of so easily. I do not believe that he is. He is the head of the department, answerable to the committee, as his principals are to him. In addition there are laws that could be read that the superintedent can be removed, one is Ch 71 SEC 63, Massachusetts general laws, also chapter 69 deals with underperforming districts and the removal of principals and teachers. No reason not to include the main reason Lawrence is in this status, which is Laboy. In any event there must be some mechanism to remove a person such as this by means other than force. The public needs to understand that the committee is the key to removing and then fixing the problem (Laboy). There duty is to elect compitent members, or re-elect puppet rubberstamps such as Laroque, and live with that discision in shame.
